Born in Melbourne Victoria, Sharnika began dancing and modelling at the age of three. She commenced her dance journey at Dance Extreme Performing Arts Studio under the guidance of Miss Lisa Wilson, who instilled in Sharnika a strong technical foundation, and most importantly an unwavering passion for dancing. Throughout her nine years with Miss Lisa, Sharnika won countless eisteddfods and aggregates, achieving Honours with Distinctions in Ballet and Tap exams and winning a position in the production of Ne Roi with Mr Ken Ludden, Director of the Margot Fonteyn Academy, New York. She also had the honour of performing in the production of Legally Blonde with PAC (Performing Artistry Company). At nine years old Sharnika was accepted into the Dance Prescription Program, where she was given the nickname of ‘Brave’, after the character Merida in the Disney movie Brave (to whom Sharnika bares a close resemblance with her gorgeous red locks). Sharing many of Merida’s best personal traits also helped the nickname stick, making the moniker something Sharnika is still known by today. During the Dance Prescription Program Sharnika further honed her jazz technique, artistry and skills, later becoming a lab assistant for Dr Lisa Ellis, travelling nationally to assist in Jazz Technique Turns & Jumps workshops around Australia.
Sharnika currently dances at Jason Colemans Ministry of Dance in North Melbourne in the Elite Evolution Program, continuing her training in ballet, tap, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, acro, heels and commercial styles with unwavering dedication and passion. She is also in her third season with the esteemed Scimm Dance Company Platforms, where she gets to showcase her truly impressive skills as a talented all-rounder and a performer with maturity beyond her years.
